MEET: JOHN-Owner of Blackred Clothing
What was your inspiration in starting your brand? Ever since I was a kid I found myself involved in some kind of action sport. I always kept myself really busy and skating along with BMX were my two favorites. I watched the x games whenever they were on and still do to this day. I would say the level of tricks displayed each year kept me watching and enjoying this industry the most. It's so insane it makes you think if there will ever be an end to how many spins, flips, or how high one can get on a board or bike. Its a really cool industry to be in right now since its rising in popularity by the day.
Why the name Blackred? You know I'm always drawing something new or thinking of new ideas. Why blackred.. um. well I ask you... Why Google? or Why Yahoo? I think it really comes down to something you designed and connect that to something you have a that special passion for. Blackred translates to my dedication to grow within this industry and present longevity in my brand rather than being a fly bye. It also means a brand for my customers to wear and support keeping the industry growing in a positive direction.
What are you doing when you are not working on Blackred? The brand takes up a good amount of my time and just when I think I'm in the clear, something else pops up. On the weekends, I usually just take my dogs out to the park and relax if I can. I really like summer time in New England and since we don't have too many nice months in a year, I take full advantage.
Do you have a favorite food? I would have to say anything Chicken. I'm really into working out and keeping in shape, so the protein keeps my energy level up a bit. Second to that, my vote would be for steak tips and potatoes.
What kind of Car do you drive? Chevy "like a rock" silverado. I try to keep it really clean, but with two crazy and dirty Boxers.. its not always that way.
Do you have a favorite music genre? You know that's a great question.. I would say everything but the classical stuff. I would have to say my favorite is rock and hip-hop with country following right behind that.
One last one for you...What is your favorite quote? I have always lived by "The only things in life you regret are the risks you don't take". I think I have been saying that since I was about 14 years old and still holds true today.
